Product Description

This carrier is UNIQUE if you want to be different from the crowd. It is a
cargo carrier that mounts on the back of a car (Vehicle must have a luggage rack to hang the support straps from). Adds 14 cu ft of storage with no air drag what so ever. Also easy to load since it is behind the car rather than on top. It comes with two bottom antisway straps and a 3rd 29 foot long, very very long support strap that can go under the bag to the forward luggage bar or around the bag and back door to support the bag another way.

Soft sided cargo carrier that suspends from your vehicle's luggage rack. This product requires a luggage rack or similar securely mounted roof device. It hangs on the back of your vehicle allowing easy loading & access to your gear. Made of Hydrotuff material which is vinyl backed polyester, UV resistant. The PackRight Cargo Saddlebag is 22" thick, 40" across and 28" high and holds over 14 cu ft (which is about the size of a medium car trunk.) Includes two bottom straps which you attach to your bumper, hitch or similar device to prevent swaying when turning corners. Also included is heavy duty and very long 29' support strap that goes around the back door and carrier for added support. Can also go under the bag and up to a forward luggage rack bar to help distribute the weight load. This product is for carrying, sleeping bags, duffel bags of cloths etc. It is not suitable for heavy coolers, firewood etc. Maximum weight limit about 80 lbs or the limit of your luggage rack.

More Product Information

Waterproof, weather resistant what's the deal? There are technical definitions, but for us it means driving your car for hours at highway speed in a fierce rain storm and your gear stays dry in a car top carrier. Weather resistant is a cop out. If you read 'weather resistant' on any car top carrier product, know your stuff is going to get wet. Waterproof... many car top carrier companies lie. Plastic material or simply a flap over the zipper won't keep the water out. LakelandGear uses the fold and bed closure with Classic, just like white water rafting bags. We use ZipRight in the Sport, a special urethane coated zipper located in the flap, not under it. We offer liners with taped seams. We know some water may get into our stitched bags. Our carriers take the force of 70mph rain, the liner inside protects gear from any water that may seep in. It works we know it from testing. We also offer carriers with RF welded seams and heavy tarpaulin material. That keeps water out, but only because we pair it with urethane coated dual zipper systems. NOBODY makes waterproof carriers as well as we do. Some compare our carrier systems to a duck's butt in a pond "no water gets in."

I have a SUV but as we all know, you never seem to have enough room. I was able to pack every thing in my PackRight Cargo Saddlebag with room to spare. As luck would have it, we had to drive for about 100 miles of rain and wind, but when we open our PackRight Cargo Saddlebag, every thing was nice and dry. The PackRight Cargo Saddlebag was so easy to install. I had it setup and loaded in less than 30 min, and when we got home the PackRight Cargo Saddlebag rolled up into a nice package so we could store it in our apartment. Thanks again for a great product.

We bought this to use on our 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan for a 12 hour drive from St. Louis, MO to Gulf Shores, AL. It was GREAT! Easy to install on the vehicle, held a lot of bags that freed up room in the van for comfort of the passengers. We plan to use use it again and again!

  Barny J. from Cincinnati, OH

I bought this cargo carrier because I didn't want the wind drag caused by the rooftop carriers. I drove over 4,000 miles with this carrier on the back of my minivan, and it worked great. The carrier has a lot of space and is simple to attach and detach from the vehicle. It also provides easy access to items that are placed in the carrier. We even drove through a lot of rain, and the items in the carrier stayed dry. I would definitely recommend this product. My only concern is that it covers the license plate, so I would recommend moving the license plate to the rear window while using this carrier.

Item was great for the light-weight items we were hauling (pillows, life-jackets, towels, linens, etc...). Two things bothered me about this item 1) we had to order one large strap buckle that did not come with the original bag. 2) The anti-sway straps (bottom) were a pain. After nounting the bag the straps need to be cinched (tightened). This is difficult to do from underneath with the "slip-belt" type of fastener. These should have the snap-buckle (quick release) type of connectors.
