Allen T. from Orangeville, UTThis type of device quickly becomes indispensable to anyone who roasts meat in the oven, especially if your oven doesn't have a good heat control. I found my oven consistently requires to be set 25 degrees higher than the temperature called for or it will be too cool. Ovens also vary in the range of temperatures they react to, so the actual temperature will swing wildly while baking. That's a problem for baking, but with the probe thermometer, you can roast to a specific level of doneness without overcooking and drying out the meat.
The Polder thermometer is straightforward and easy to use and it has a magnetic back that makes it easy to stick it to the outside of the oven door. The probe wire is plenty long, and the device never seems to run down its battery.
The only warning I have for using this kind of device is take good care of the probe and its cable. I had trouble with my old one and replaced it.
